Neuberger Berman is seeking an experienced investment management attorney to join its New York-based Legal and Compliance Department. The position will support Neuberger Berman's approximately a $45 billion complex of funds registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, covering multiple asset classes and strategies (equity, fixed income, quantitative, multi-asset, liquid alternatives and private equity) in open-end and closed-end fund structures.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review registered investment company fund regulatory documents, including registration statements, financial statements and proxy statements;
- Review marketing materials and requests for proposals;
- Draft, negotiate and maintain various contracts, including investment management agreements, agreements with service providers, and intermediary distribution agreements;
- Provide advice to various departments within the firm, including product development, fund administration and operations;
- Prepare and maintain information for fund board meetings;
- Adapt and adjust job responsibilities to accommodate changing priorities while managing multiple requirements and timelines; and
- Monitor for new regulatory requirements that may impact the business and funds.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and JD required;
- Member of New York state bar (or the ability to waive in);
- 2-4 years of experience in the practice of investment management law, with a preference for registered fund experience from an in-house legal department, law firm or the SEC;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Desire to learn a variety of aspects of the asset management business, including operations, administration, distribution and compliance; and
- Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to work at a high level in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Compensation Details
The salary range for this role is $170,000-$215,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for a discretionary bonus.
