As a service-oriented organization, we never waver in our commitment to our Corps. This position is located at CAMP PENDLETON, CALIFORNIA. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a ASSISTANT FITNESS MANAGER NF-3.

This vacancy is also eligible for the following Employee Benefits: 401(k) Retirement Plan with up to a 5% employer match NAF Pension Plan, employee contribution only 1% (May be eligible to buy back military service time) Medical and dental insurance Inexpensive life insurance covers up to 3x your annual salary Flexible Spending Accounts (Health and Dependent Care) Health Savings Account Short Term Disability Insurance up to 60% of your salary Federal Long Term Care Up to $3,000 a year for Tuition Assistance up to graduate level Leave Donation Program for life's emergencies Immediate Annual and sick leave accrual Major Duties The purpose of this position is to assist the Fitness Manager in the overall operation and control of the area recreational programs, strength and conditioning programs, HITT, Human Performance, fitness, group exercise programs, property equipment control, special events and day-to-day operations of the facilities and programs. This position reports directly to the Fitness Manager or Human Performance Supervisor. MAJOR DUTIES: Incumbents time will be spent assisting their supervisor in the purchase, upkeep and maintenance of equipment registered on Consolidated Memorandum Receipts, and will make regular and detailed checks for sanitation, cleanliness and safety of all areas and equipment.

May assist in the proper training of staff on all aspects of the facilities and programs. May be responsible for gear issue and receipt of gear check-in. Assist in the layout and preparation of programs and/or facilities, athletic fields, courts, and tracks.

Deals with patrons to resolve complaints and grievances. May assist in the planning and scheduling of staff work assignments to accommodate weekends, evenings, and holidays, as well as employee performance appraisals and other personnel actions. Incumbents will also be required to teach group exercise classes, provide fitness programming, administer fitness and health assessments, teach health and fitness classes, work races and represent Semper Fit at special events.

In the absence of the supervisor, may act as the MCCS area liaison/representative with the area command, sharing information about all of the facilities in that area. Constantly provides World Class Customer service with an emphasis on courtesy. Acknowledges customers, smiles, and makes eye conduct.

Asks questions to determine, verify, and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly.

Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Performs other related duties as assigned. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: May receive and register payment for services using a cash register.

Qualifications ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Must support other programs within Semper Fit when called upon such as the Hard Corps Race Series, Single Marine Program (SMP), Athletics, etc. Maintain confidentially when collecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII), HIPPA, and open lines of communication. Must possess a valid state driver's license.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to work nights, holidays, and weekends. This job requires mobility and flexibility working throughout the base at different locations and times. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.

Requires extended periods of standing and walking on tile floors. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures.

Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have one year experience in fitness, health, sports or group exercise with a minimum of two years customer service experience.

A degree from an accredited college/university in a related field is preferred and may be substituted for three years of experience. Must be certified as a personal fitness trainer by a nationally accredited certifying organization or obtain within six months. Must currently have or obtain within six months a group exercise certification.

This certification must be kept current throughout employment. Must be certified in CPR within 3 months and remain certified during duration of employment.
