Hiring Range: $139,000 - $155,000
Full Pay Range: $110,740 - $166,110
Work Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 7:30am - 5:30pm
3-day weekends Saturday - Monday

Position Overview:
As a key member of the Fire Department Management team, the Assistant Fire Chief will report to the Fire Chief and assume a strategic role in the overall leadership of the department. The Assistant Fire Chief is responsible for providing support to the Fire Chief in leading, planning, implementing, and managing assigned activities of the Fire Department. Position is responsible for providing supervision to the assigned divisions of the Fire Department: Battalion Chiefs, shift captains, both operational and managerial in nature, and Fire and EMS operations and training. Along with Volunteer Organizations. Responsible for regular, on-time attendance. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Associate degree in related field required. Minimum of (10) years operational experience in a career fire department, with (4) years at the Battalion Chief level or equivalent. Experience in Fire Administration as a regular assignment.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted, provided it meets the proficiency levels outlined above.
Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in related field; Texas Fire Chief's Academy; EFO Graduate or current student.
Other Requirements
Valid Class "C" driver's license. Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett. Must report all traffic citations to his/her departmental Director or his/her designee within two working days of receipt.
Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certification as an Advanced Firefighter. Experience as a Fire Instructor. EMT Paramedic preferred, but EMT basic certification may be accepted at the discretion of the Fire Chief.
