For GS-12: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: experience with land and/or resource management programs requiring multiple-use management and protection of a variety of resources (rangeland management, water, fisheries, wildlife, oil and gas, recreation, etc.) and interacting with all levels of the agency; accomplishing work through others, e.g., project manager, team or project lead, etc.; experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships to achieve goals and objectives; in conducting oral briefings and presentations; in preparing reports which identify, analyze and integrate diverse data, present findings and conclusions, and provide alternatives and/or recommendations (reports often weigh and balance diverse opinions with agency requirements and resource needs; in making clear, well-reasoned decisions balancing diverse opinions.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Work Environment: Most work is in an office setting. Field sites involve exposure to adverse weather, i.e., rain, snow, cold and/or heat. Some outdoor work requires special safety precautions.
