The Spirit of the Position:

Assistant Manager of Events will serve an important and crucial role for our ever-growing events division. They will play a key role in ensuring the success of events, including the pre-planning, operational support and post event wrap-up and reporting. They will report to the Director of Events and work closely with both our TA (Talent Acquisition) and HR Teams. The Assistant Manager position will require a passion for people, events and both the short- and long-term success and growth of Laz Boston’s Event Services Division.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain event calendar/schedule making sure shifts are filled and scheduling platform is kept up to date, including importing new hires into the platform.
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll by ensuring hours are accurate and entered in a timely manner, including vacation and sick time requests.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and the Home Office to answer questions including benefits employee, referral program and other things HR related.
  • Work with TA to help aggressively hire for events and identify areas and places to post jobs and recruit to keep a robust pipeline of employees coming in.
  • Go onsite to large event venues to help manage new hires, including onsite orientation and training.
  • Help maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for event venues as needed and assigned.
  • Serve as onsite Manager for events as needed and as time allows.
  • Lead, train, support and communicate with front-line event staff.
  • Attend certain industry networking events to meet current and potential clients as well as increase events client list and business.
  • Learn and understand technology utilized at event venues including, but not limited to Flash, LazGo, Evolve and ticket scanning platforms.
  • Assist is maintaining ongoing relationships with events venues and clients and have a full understanding of the scope of services Laz provides to them and the operation as a whole.
  • Accompany Events Director and other members of the Laz team to certain onsite meetings and walkthroughs.
  • Additional duties as assigned, and as division grows.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • College degree or equivalent work experience

Experience

  • Event and/or parking industry experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience working both independently and in group settings
  • Experience working with large teams is a plus but not required
  • Experience creating and managing schedules and/or payroll are a plus

Skills

  • Excellent team-building and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to make decisions independently in a fast past environment and follow through with those decisions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with a large and diverse group of people
  • Ability to work in both an office setting as well as onsite at events
  • Willingness to adjust work schedule as needed (sometimes more time in the office and sometimes more time onsite)
  • Ability to stand on one’s feet for long stretches of time
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather when required
  • Willingness to work a variety of hours as needed based on Events Division needs
  • High level of organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite including Excel and Teams
  • Great communication skills are required
