Job Description
Job Title: Assistant Editor, I CARE IF YOU LISTEN
FLSA Status: Non-exempt, part-time
Reports To: Director of Publications (Editor of I CARE IF YOU LISTEN)
Salary: $27/hour, approximately 20 hours/week
ICIYL Editorial
  • Proofread final draft of all articles for typos, correct spelling of names and correct pronouns, grammatical errors, and factual inaccuracies
  • Prepare articles in WordPress, adding links, tags, and embedded media, with an eye for SEO best practices
  • Schedule content and manage links and metadata for the weekly social media schedule
  • Contribute to content strategy by suggesting new artists, identifying gaps in coverage, and staying current on industry issues

ICIYL Administrative
  • Assist with tracking payments to contributors and monthly reconciliation of year-to-date transaction detail
  • Assist in preparing reports to funders

ACF e-Communications
  • Gather copy and visual assets from various ACF staff members, curate articles to align with organizational brand, and draft e-newsletters in Constant Contact
  • Proofread and edit staff submissions to create concise, engaging, and accessible copy with a unified tone
  • Work with the Director of Digital Media to assess analytics and optimize engagement
  • Prepare major org-wide announcements in Constant Contact and on ACF websites (composersforum.org and icareifyoulisten.com)
  • Create one-time direct mailings for targeted ACF event invitations, or on behalf of partner organizations and advertisers

ACF Administrative/Professional Development
  • Attend weekly staff meetings (Wednesdays from 11:00-12:30 pm CT) and monthly Digital Strategy meetings (first Friday of the month, 12:00-1:00 pm CT)
  • Attend ACF Board meetings
  • Participate in anti-racism training and other ACF staff training

Qualifications
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about ACF's mission and supporting music creators, committed to racial equity, and shares the organization's values of leadership, anti-racism, courage, support, and curiosity.
They must be highly organized, reliable, and able to reprioritize when needed. A keen proofreading eye, an interest in content and digital marketing strategies, and the desire to cultivate an accessible and equitable environment that supports a diversity of artistic and journalistic voices are essential. Of equal importance is the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, communicate clearly and empathetically, and learn new digital platforms quickly. Experience with WordPress, Constant Contact, and basic HTML are strongly encouraged. Knowledge of the new and experimental music scene is strongly preferred.
The ability to work with a diverse group of individuals - whether artists, writers, publicists, staff members, or board members - is essential.

LOCATION
As a national organization, we value the opportunity to be based in Minnesota while cultivating a staff and community that lives around the country. We invite applicants outside the area to only apply if they are willing to travel 1-2 times a year for full staff/board activities in St. Paul, Minnesota and other parts of the U.S. where programs may be taking place.
We value the artistic and other life activities of our staff and operate in three different time zone. We welcome flexible work hours. ACF will remain a permanently hybrid working environment.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a part-time, non-exempt position paying an hourly rate of $27 per hour, plus a home office stipend of $30 per month. This position is eligible for a total of ten (10) paid vacation days: five (5) during ACF's one-week summer office closure, and five (5) during ACF's winter holiday office closure. ACF is also able to provide a laptop and other resources needed to perform the duties associated with this position. This position is not eligible for health insurance or other employee benefits.
