Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cape Cod Community College is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Assistant Director who can work collaboratively across divisions to advance multiple transformational initiatives under our five year, $2.25 million, Title III grant: Project POWERS (Powering Work-teams for Equity, Retention and Success). This change agent will be a member of the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) team and work directly with the VPASA to initiate and lead cross-functional projects designed to increase access and equitable student success.  Projects will focus on enhancing effectiveness and scale in distance learning through innovation, technology acquisition, classroom upgrades, and faculty and staff professional development.  In addition, Project POWERS will drive innovation in student services by helping to establish individualized, interconnected teamwork, supported by technical infrastructure and professional development, across divisions for each student from point of inquiry through student goal attainment. Ultimately, the Assistant Director will contribute to decreasing students' time to completion while increasing equitable outcomes for underrepresented populations. Some in-state travel is required. The position is 50% grant-funded for five years.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Ensure underrepresented student voices and experiences inform project design and delivery at each stage of implementation for Project POWERS.
  2. Manage project timelines, deadlines, meetings, events, and budgets for Title III Project POWERS initiatives.
  3. Collaborate with faculty and staff college-wide, assisting in breaking down silos to advance student-centered teamwork and problem-solving to achieve grant goals.
  4. Facilitate committee and team meetings to encourage innovation and ensure goal attainment.
  5. Work with Academic and Student Affairs staff and I.T. to expand HyFlex and Online Course options and innovations.
  6. Work with IT to implement classroom technology upgrades.
  7. Work with Grants Office to assist Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) in generating grant requisitions and in grant reporting and compliance.
  8. Work with VPASA, academic leadership, faculty and staff to develop integrated career readiness model to engage students with educational and career planning, post-enrollment data collection and milestone attainment.
  9. Apply strong knowledge of student services and technical platforms to facilitate a series of platform integrations that enhance individualized, integrated student services across the College.
  10. Collaborate with academic leadership and faculty/staff to deliver robust professional development and training opportunities related to distance education and end-to-end integrated student success services to the College.
  11. Work with the Institutional Research and Planning Office to assist in collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data related to student needs and project goals to ensure a continuous cycle of improvement.
  12. Collaborate with Strategic Marketing and Communications to promote Project POWERS achievements internally and externally.
  13. Participate in Annual Title III evaluations.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in education or related field.
  2. Three years of experience in higher education as faculty or student affairs professional staff.
  3. Demonstrated impact in successfully driving racial equity and justice in a higher education environment.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of student information systems, preferably Jenzabar.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and application of state-of-the art practices in holistic advising, case management, and use of related software platforms.
  6. Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make data-informed recommendations to improve student services.
  7. Ability to engage, inspire, and motivate cross-functional teams.
  8. Two years of experience planning, organizing, and managing complex projects with evidence of successful completion.
  9. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Amazing, positive attitude and excellent sense of humor.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Earned doctorate.
  2. Prior experience managing federal grants, compliance, reporting requirements, and related technical platforms.
  3. Project management certification.
  4. Prior experience planning, acquiring, and deploying academic technology.
  5. Prior experience as faculty or professional staff in the community college sector.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION

Annual Salary Range of $70,000-$85,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience. Full-time, 12-month, Non-Unit Professional position. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program including option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.    

Partially Grant-funded: U.S. Department of Education Title III Part A Strengthening Institutions Program Grant Award (# P031A230075), 2023-2028.
