Job description

Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest, IL, seeks a creative, energetic, mature female with an interest in mentoring international and domestic high school students at this all-girls college preparatory day and boarding school. 
 
Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart is one of 25 Sacred Heart schools in the United States and Canada, and 150 schools worldwide. The Assistant Director of Residence Life will work closely with the Director of Residence Life to make a direct impact on the student and staff experience. The Assistant creates programs and provides guidance and leadership for successful and positive student experiences. The Assistant moderates the Residence Community Council RCC and provides leadership training for the council. The Assistant and the Director will work together to ensure the needs of the Residence Life program are being addressed. The Assistant will aid the Director in all student housing, orientation, and medical needs, as well as any other duties as assigned.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Work closely with the Director and Residence Coordinators to create a calendar of events and activities that result in a positive and engaging boarding culture
  • In conjunction with the Director, maintain the program budget and log expenses
  • Work closely with food service to ensure staff and student nutritional needs and satisfaction
  • Arrange accommodations for guests in the boarding program/residence hall, including exchange students, prospective students, and visiting RSCJ
  • Provide transportation to Residence Life for school events and activities in school vehicles, including the school 14-passenger bus
  • In conjunction with the Director, assign student housing, create the boarder orientation, and annually edit the Residence Life Handbook and bulletin boards
  • Oversee student prescriptions by maintaining the necessary paperwork and refilling prescriptions
  • Organize student medical appointments and communicate necessary medical information to parents/guardians
  • Assume the Director's duties in her absence
  • Cover emergency shifts when on campus
 
Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor's degree, or working toward a bachelor's degree, required
  • Previous experience, preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and the willingness and ability to drive a 14-passenger bus (special license not required; training provided)
  • Residence Life staff work on a rotating schedule, including evenings, weekends, overnights, some holidays, and will attend weekly staff meetings and any mandatory training and school events. 
  • Excellent interpersonal (relationship) and communication skills
  • Positive attitude and dedication to teamwork
  • Ability to make decisions, problem solve, and use sound judgment
  • International and multicultural exposure, preferred
  • Frequently ascend/descend stairs to access different parts of the building 
  • Must be willing to submit to all required background checks and safety compliance items
