Function / Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Postsecondary Success - Educational Pathways, Early College Experiences, and Career Programs works to ensure high quality educational pathways and Early College/career experiences across all schools in School District U-46. Their goal is to ensure all students graduate ready for college, career, and life. They provide vision, direction, and support to ensure equitable access, opportunity, and success in Early College experiences and Career programs. Travel within the district and surrounding communities is a requirement. Maintains confidentiality of student/staff information in the district, and in the community. This position works collaboratively with internal stakeholders and community partners as well as serves as the U-46 representative on regional, statewide, and national committees.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of continuous improvement plans for educational pathways, Early College and Career programs to ensure high quality programming, equitable student access, and successful student outcomes.
- Collaborates with the Director and Assistant Director of Postsecondary Success - Gifted, Accelerated and Magnet Programs to design, develop, and implement College and Career readiness opportunities for the district, including the U-46 EXPLORE event, parent nights, and other community events.
- Designs and executes data driven systems and structures that ensure the skillful implementation of programs to provide maximum student impact.
- Partners district representatives from Teaching & Learning, Equity & Innovation, and Office of Schools as well as the Assistant Director of Post Secondary Success - Educational Pathways, Early College Experiences, and Career Programs and the Coordinator of Instructional Programs and Supports to coordinate, implement and oversee educational pathways, Early College experiences and Career programs.
- Collaborates with content curriculum coordinators and appropriate staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents for educational pathways, Early College experience and Career programs based on systematic review and analysis of data.
- Meets regularly with Early College experience teachers of dual credit, International Baccalaureate (IB), and Advanced Placement (AP), and courses with industry credentials.
- Meets regularly with school administrators to provide guidance and support around educational pathway, Early College experiences, and Career programming, ensuring equitable access and student success
- Creates, develops, and leads professional development in the areas of educational pathways, Early College experiences, career programs, dual credit, AP and IB for teachers, administrators, and parents/community members.
- Collaborates with the Director of Post Secondary Success and Director of Assessment for implementation of all P/SAT, AP, IB, ISA, IAR, and other school-wide state mandated testing (not including MME testing). This includes periodic meetings with building administrators to ensure successful test administration.
- Collaborates with the Director of Post Secondary Success, school counselors and post secondary teams to promote Educational Pathways and Early College experiences, and Career programs.
- Supervises the writing, editing, and revising of curriculum materials and equipment to support the instructional program of Early College experience and Career courses according to curriculum guidelines.
- Collaborates with the content coordinators to ensure high quality programming and alignment to the postsecondary and workforce readiness act.
- Develops and monitors the program budgets including Perkins, CTEI, and other grants/funding in collaboration with the grant teams and other district representatives.
- Partners with Northern Kane County Regional Vocational System EFE 110 and represents the district at councils, committees, and other meetings.
- Partners with D509 and represents the district at councils, committees and other meetings.
- Partners district representatives from Teaching & Learning, Equity & Innovation, and Office of Schools as well as the Assistant Director of Post Secondary Success - Educational Pathways, Early College Experiences, and Career Programs and the Coordinator of Instructional Programs and Supports to coordinate, implement and oversee gifted, enrichment, credit recovery, and acceleration summer school programs.
- Works with a cross functional team including district representatives from Teaching & Learning, Equity & Innovation, and Office of Schools and school-based administrators and teachers to develop, maintain, and revise the gifted, accelerated, and magnet policies and procedures based on systematic review and analysis of data.
- In collaboration with the Early College Experience counselor, coordinate all full-time and in-high school dual credit enrollment, courses and support teacher needs
- Advocates for and allocates resources appropriately to ensure high quality Early College experience and Career programming across the district.
- Develops work-based learning, team-based challenges, internships and College and Career pathway endorsements programs (CCPE), and other opportunities for all students.
- Analyzes and proposes program placement as well as coordinates transportation to ensure students are able to access programming for work-based learning, internships, and job fairs.
- Collaborates with community partners to develop and implement resume workshops, internships, career panels, job fairs, etc.
- Builds and maintains relationships with community partners and external organizations.
- Use research to formulate proposals for the development and/or revision of policies and practices to enhance program offerings and access.
- Support and develop administrators and staff to provide meaningful feedback to teachers to continuously improve instructional practices.
- Create, develop, and lead professional development in the areas of Early College experience and magnet programming for teachers, administrators, and parents/community members.
- Remains up to date on current and relevant research, best practices, and other pertinent policies that relate to or impact efforts related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
- Serves as a communication liaison for the Department of Equity and Innovation with school sites and staff members regarding educational pathways, Early College experiences, and Career programs.
- Regularly visits schools and classrooms to observe implementation of programming and provides reports and data to district leadership on implementation measures.
- Participates, as requested, on Continuous Improvement Team/Leadership Teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Prior administrative experience preferred.
- General Administrator or Principal Endorsement.
- ESL Endorsement or Bilingual Endorsement preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge working with and coaching adults to continuously reflect on and improve their practice
- Demonstrate knowledge in educational pathways, Early College experiences, and Career programs models
- Demonstrate knowledge of assessment tools and identification practices and interpretation of data
- Demonstrate knowledge of best practices for supporting culturally diverse, economically diverse and English Language Learners
- Demonstrate professionalism by managing time effectively, working with different stakeholders (administrative staff, teachers, other coaches, and students), and engaging in continuous learning.
- Demonstrate ability to produce clear and coherent writing as well as adept at public speaking.
- Able to commute throughout the district to fulfill responsibilities as stated in the job description.
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
- This is a 12-month work-year position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
- The full salary range for this position is $91,560.00 - $137,323.00. It is our typical practice to hire in between the minimum and midpoint ($114,444.00).
