We are currently looking for an Assistant Activities Director of Life Enrichment for our Carolina Inn Assisted Living Community. The Assistant Director of Life Enrichment is vital to the daily operations of the Life Enrichment department and the well-being of Carolina Inn residents. S/he occupies their time with researching and developing leisure programs that stimulate the mind and body while promoting social interaction amongst the residents of the facility. The Assistant Director of Life Enrichment works daily with the Director of Life Enrichment to plan and conduct activities to engage residents. Together, they will schedule and supervise all Life Enrichment Assistants and Servers. Duties include encouraging hobbies, planning parties, crafts, games and other activities. This position requires excellent communication, creativity, positive attitude and a can-do attitude!

Job Responsibilities:

• Assists with the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of varying levels of activities for assisted living residents.
• Get to know each resident individually to better understand needs and varying interests and coordinate activities accordingly.
• Prepares progress notes quarterly and/or as deemed necessary.
• Assists with transporting, communicating and setting up for activity programs in assisted living on a daily basis.
• Manages the procurement, care, and maintenance of all event supplies and equipment
• Conducts group activities with residents to encourage a sense of community

*All Life Enrichment staff members safeguard and account for residents when taking them on outings and other activities outside the facility.

Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Skill in providing support in the planning, coordinating and implementation of an activities program to meet the diverse needs of assisted living residents.
• Understanding and awareness of problems of the aging.
• Must be energetic, must be able to multi-task, and friendly.
• Respect for resident rights and confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently; to prioritize tasks and organize work efficiently. Ability to motivate people and be sensitive to their needs. Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and staff.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be physically able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
• Physical ability necessary to transport residents in wheelchairs.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
• Some weekends and holidays are required.

Education & Experience:

• Associate Degree or three years minimum of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong organizational and planning skills required.
• Previous experience working with seniors is preferred.
