Job Summary:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Provides training and supervisory assistance to elementary and high school cafeteria personnel in the areas of personnel, labor, food quality and service.
• Provides in-service training and develops materials for trainings. Maintains professional standards according to USDA requirements and monitors compliance.
• Monitors the district's school lunch and breakfast programs to assure regulatory and Nutritional requirements are met.
• Interviews potential employees, hires personnel and maintains appropriate staffing levels in the cafeterias.
• Assists in evaluating cafeteria managers and hourly staff.
• Works closely with district personnel, students and parent groups to promote child nutrition programs.
• Coordinates and promotes summer feeding program with other departments and community.
• Assists with development of menus.
• Monitors labor hours and meal costs and prepares appropriate reports by site and department.
• Maintains the HACCP program.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures
• Knowledge of applicable grants management
• Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures
• Knowledge of the National School Lunch Program regulations
• Knowledge of Food safety and sanitation procedures
• Knowledge of the dietary guidelines for Americans for menu analysis and Nutrition education
• Knowledge of specific diseases that require dietary restrictions
• Skill in developing training materials and classes for various positions within the department
• Skill in defective communication, both oral and written.
• Skill in establishing and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district
• Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or food management or Culinary degree preferred
• Five years of supervisory experience in the food services industry preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background check
• May be required to work outside normal working hours
• Must have at the time of application and must maintain a valid Arizona driver's license
• Possess or ability to obtain the Maricopa County Food Handlers Permit and ServSafe Certification
• Possess or be able to obtain he School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) credential
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language
• Ability to lift heavy items, such as Food and supply containers, up to 50 pounds
• Possess AZ driver's license and good driving record
• May be required to work outside normal working hours
• May be required to travel to perform work functions
