SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Assistant Director of Facilities Operations accompanies and assists the Senior Director of Facilities, Planning, and IT in overseeing and implementing plans and policies that promote quality and excellence throughout the facilities by performing duties in the operations, maintenance, and repair of the buildings and grounds areas.A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Facilities Operations team is committed to providing the employees and residents at Rockingham County a safe, supported, and environmentally conscious environment. The Assistant Director of Facilities Operations is responsible for the researching, planning, scheduling, and coordinating of general maintenance, major repairs, and remodeling/construction projects and further, providing supervision to both internal employees and contractors/vendors to ensure all activities performed are in compliance with all governing rules, regulations, codes, and guidelines. As part of our cohesive team, the Assistant Director of Facilities Operations keeps a constant flow of communication to the Senior Director regarding the status of ongoing projects and makes recommendations. As projects continue, the Assistant Director of Facilities Operations is responsible for troubleshooting routine issues that occur on the worksite, inspecting work in progress, and assisting in monitoring expenditures to ensure projects remain within budget constraints. This position also oversees internal staff to include preparing performance evaluations, providing support, guidance, and feedback, and conducting safety training and staff meetings in conjunction with the Senior Director. The Assistant Director of Facilities Operations also responds, provides coverage, and takes corrective actions during emergency situations or as the need demands, and further, assumes the responsibilities of the Senior Director in their absence.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in related field; and
• Five (5) years' experience in supervising work groups of approximately 10 or more employees; and
• Five (5) years' experience as a project manager.
• Demonstrated experience in building and grounds maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge and experience with multiple building systems and trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, sprinklers, building envelope, and safety, and security.
• An equivalent combination of education, work, and experience will be considered.
• Experience supervising in a Union work environment is preferred.
