Job description

Position: Assistant Director of External Affairs
Reports to: Chief External Affairs & Marketing Officer (CXO)
Job Summary:
We are searching for a dedicated and mission aligned development assistant to assist MCP's CXO in creating and implementing strategies that ensure sustainability and organizational growth. Your expertise in non-profit fundraising efforts will assist MCP in improving business opportunities, strengthening relationships with clients and donors, streamlining development processes, encouraging organizational growth, researching and identifying funding opportunities, and promoting the organization's mission and values to external stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
  • Maintaining relations with donors and clients.
  • Maintaining client and donor databases.
  • Supporting and improving fund-raising efforts.
  • Enhancing overall development initiatives.
  • preparing progress reports for CXO, CEO and Board.
  • Drafting proposals and presentations as needed.
  • Preparing and managing mailing lists and mailing of development letters.
  • Assisting with event planning.
  • Cultivate donors and other partners for special programming, special events, and new initiatives.
  • Recruiting, onboarding and placing volunteers.
  • Ensuring timely acknowledgment of contributions.
  • Assisting with social media activities and updates.
  • Distributing public relations and prospect materials.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Must have a belief in and be in alignment with Milwaukee College Prep's core beliefs and educational philosophy.
  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written skills.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Public Relations, Marketing or Communication.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in development and fundraising.
  • Proficiency with technology and data analysis
  • Ability to work independently without close oversight but also a team player committed to the MCP mission and model.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
This position requires physical skills that will allow the employee to work in a typical office setting, such as standing, sitting, talking, and listening on the phone, and moving between offices and buildings. The ability to drive a car and travel between schools is essential. The employee must occasionally lift and move boxes and supplies up to 20 pounds.
