Job Description

NYC Health + Hospitals seeks a communications professional with excellent writing, project management, and creative skills to contribute to our internal employee Communications and to help develop and manage external advertising and Marketing campaigns that build brand awareness and promote the health system to New Yorkers.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing will work closely with the Senior Director of Internal Communications and the Senior Director for Communications and Marketing.
  • At the direction of the Senior Directors, the Assistant Director will oversee the day to day creative and Marketing production cycles of advertising campaigns and other paid advertising programs – including concept development, production, translations, placement strategy, vendor management, stakeholder engagement and measurement/analytics reports.
  • In addition, the Assistant Director will help research, develop, write, produce, edit, and help disseminate a wide variety information to be shared with all NYC Health + Hospitals staff. This includes but is not limited to, corporate and leadership messaging about important public health policy, and writing articles for NYC Health + Hospitals digital employee newsletter, The INSIDER.
  • The Assistant Director is a team player who regularly works closely with the press office, social media leads, and the digital marketing team to make sure all channels are aligned. The position will also require respectfully balancing the needs of senior leadership with best practices and guidance. The job requires creative and strategic thinking, leadership, initiative, quick thinking, and especially a willingness to learn. This is a position that includes opportunity for growth within our team and system.
  • Other related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, Marketing or an approved related discipline; and,
2. Four years of responsible public relations experience involving the press and communications media, employee communications, community affairs, educational affairs, public information, corporate and business affairs, governmental and legislative affairs; or,
3. A satisfactory equivalent.

Department Preferences

  • Four to five years of experience in Advertising, Communications, and/or Public Relations, or the equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of Government’s structure and processes a plus.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Mastery of the English language with excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to research, interview and develop content.
  • Ability to produce and edit short videos and collaborate with social media experts.
  • Superior judgment with the ability to navigate the complexities of a large and diverse organization, accounting for a wide variety of opinions and goals.
  • Knowledge/interest in health care and public health.
