Job description

St. Norbert College, a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. This position is charged with assisting the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications, as outlined below, and with fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications in their absence. The individual is expected to follow all NCAA, Conference and College policies.
Specific responsibilities:
Serves as media contact for assigned sports and provides on-site coverage. Has the ability to use programs such as NCAA Live Stats, Adobe Suite, etc. - 40%
Develops social media strategies for the department and each sport program. - 20%
Creates dynamic and innovative strategies to digital media including social media, web streaming, videography, photography. - 15%
Connects the athletics external strategy to potential recruits, current students, and the community. - 10%
Serves as the point person for conference mandated video exchange for applicable sport programs. - 5%
Serves as the point person for communicating with student workers for home events. - 10%
Performs additional duties as assigned and attends College required training. Regular attendance is required. Works in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others and observes safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the College or governmental authority.
Supervision Exercised Over:
  • 10-15 student workers

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education -
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Experience and Credentials -
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.
  • Ability to interact politely and resolve customer service issues.
  • Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.
  • Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Adobe, NCAA LiveStats, Workday) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions in an expeditious manner.
  • Skilled at setting a good example for others.
  • Skilled at organizing events, programs, projects and see them through to completion.
  • Skilled at making presentations to large (>100) groups of people.
  • Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.

Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed at competition venues or office settings. Weekends, early mornings and evenings are generally required. This position is expected to travel. This position is expected to work on campus on a regular basis and is eligible to participate in a Hybrid Work and Flexible Schedules. Approval of Flexible Work Arrangements are at the discretion of the department supervisor to ensure that the needs of the department and college are met.
