The Assistant Division Controller will have the primary responsibility of performing in-depth month-end duties for the Transport & Warehouse division, which is comprised of three business units, in accordance with established Company policies and procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the continual improvement and development of processes, procedures and training documentation.
- Utilize IRS E-Services to verify carrier and IC W-9 information.
- Monthly and Quarterly fuel tax reporting.
- Business filings and real & personal property tax returns
- Monitors credit and collection applications and approves credit terms over pre-established limits.
- Monthly bank reconciliation.
- Assist with annual insurance and financial audits.
- Assist with annual budget preparation.
- Facilitate monthly financial closing in accordance with the timelines and processes established.
- Evaluate subsidiary journals for obvious errors and omissions and enter corrected data into general ledger.
- Balance and maintain monthly account analysis spreadsheets and prepare various corresponding accruals.
- Financial preparation and analysis.
- Cross-functionally train within the department to provide back-up to Controller, and other positions as needed.
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, etc. as needed and required.
- ALL OTHER DUTIES AND PROJECTS AS ASSIGNED.
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business management is required.
- Seven to ten years of previous relevant experience in an accounting position is required.
- Previous work experience within transportation and logistics strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Oracle finance platform preferred.
- Microsoft Office literacy with ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in Microsoft Excel (i.e., filters, pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).
