Big Sky Resort is looking for an Assistant Controller. This is a leadership position with expectations of team work, strong communication skills, and analytical thinking. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented self-starter who will support the Accounting Controller and the Accounting Team. The Accounting Department is made up of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Banking and Cash Management, HOA and owner accounting and Real Estate Construction. This position is a diverse job with opportunity to work with many resort departments, the resort’s management team, auditors, vendors, owners and guests.
Responsibilities: - Prepare and review journal entries, month end reconciliations and reports
- Support the timely closing of the general ledger on a monthly basis
- Responsible for resort and sales tax reporting and compliance
- Assist in the preparation of seasonal and annual budgets and forecasts
- Oversee Homeowner’s association accounting - including budgeting, cash management, project tracking, and quarterly financials and board presentations
- Participate in preparation for the Big Sky Resort annual audit
- Help oversee staff level accounting personnel
- BSc/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is required
- 3 years of general accounting experience
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills- a team player with positive attitude
- Well-organized with ability to prioritize
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and working knowledge of Quickbooks Online
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and of accounting and financial processes
- Passion for Montana and the outdoors
