Major Responsibilities:
- Assist PCC leadership with day to day operation to ensure high quality and cost effective patient care
- 1)Serves in the role of Charge Nurse.
- 2)Assigns daily staff work assignments.
- 3)Maintains staffing requirements in accordance with established policies, patient volume.
- 4)Collaborates with physicians, management and other healthcare professionals to assure the deliver of quality care and patient satisfaction.
- 5)Assures accurate reporting of census and staffing at predetermined times.
- 6)Assures that Point of Care Testing/Code Carts/Code Boxes are accounted for.
- 7)Assures appropriate supplies are available to staff via Lawson.
- 8)Monitors/Edits Report Express Reports in a timely manner.
- 9)Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency standards, i.e., federal, state, city, Accrediting Organization, IDPH and all hospital policies and procedures.
- 10)Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives
- Practices the principles of Performance Improvement in order to contribute to positive patient outcomes
- 1)Demonstrates and maintains a current knowledge Advocate Christ Medical Center Mission, Philosophy, Policies and Procedures.
- 2)Serves as a clinical resource to staff.
- 3)Collaborates with members of the health care team to facilitate the Care Management process
- 4)Serves as a role model for "Service First" in practice and facilitation of staff adherence to Service First courtesy standards and scripts.
- 5)Facilitates Service Recovery.
- 6)Takes initiative with problem resolution and conflict management when presented with issues/concerns.
- 7)Responds to issues/concerns of patients and families in a timely manner. Refers complex issues to management.
- 8)Demonstrates positive support and participation in unit base performance improve plan, indicators and outcomes.
- 9)Make recommendations for improvement.
- 10)Assists in the Performance Improvement (CQI) Process
- Participates with PCC leadership to provide positive work environment for staff in terms of growth and development and job satisfaction
- 1)Practices positive coaching/mentoring skills to foster staff growth and development.
- 2)Conducts timely and objective performance pathways for assigned staff subject to review with management prior to presentation to staff.
- 3)Assesses educational needs of the staff and facilitates education opportunities.
- 4)Assists individuals with identifying professional goals and provides opportunities to achieve these goals.
- 5)Addresses staff concerning matters involving minor performance variances and minor disciplinary counseling.
- 6)Consults with management if written disciplinary action is warranted.
- 7)Refers major rule violations/work performance issues to management utilizing the established chain of command.
- 8)Assists with data collection/tracking for education/inservice of assigned staff.
- 9)Assists with the development of staff competencies and skills checklists.
- 10)Facilitates staff attendance at inservices by providing appropriate coverage of unit.
- Responsible for personal/professional growth and development
- 1)Keeps abreast of current standards of care via literature, educational events, internal and external resources and networking.
- 2)Proactively seek out education as opportunities.
- 3)Participates in activities to enhance professional growth by involvement in professional organization and continuing education.
- 4)Maintains clinical expertise specific to unit.
Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree in nursing required. Masters degree preferred.
- 5 years Labor and Delivery experience
- Licensed Professional Registered Nurse
- 2-3 years prior leadership experience preferred

- Ability to assume charge/schedule coordinator role * Ability to communicate effectively and work cohesively with a diverse work group * Skills specific to each units specialty
