Job description

JOIN THE SHOW! Join the remarkable team at Aria Resort & Casino as a Pastry Sous Chef. Ideal candidates will have expertise in bread making and French baked goods or vennoiserie. If you possess expertise in recipe development, seasonal desserts, and supporting pastry teams during production and plating shifts, this role could be a perfect fit for you.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Ensure requisitions are processed properly and placed in designated area

  • Restock kitchen supplies and food items required for service

  • Label and date products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation

  • Maintain production knowledge and attention to detail with decoration and taste quality

  • Assist Pastry Chef, other Assistant Pastry Chefs, bakers, and helpers as needed in execution of production

  • Conduct training for bakers and helpers on job responsibilities

  • Communicate with management and service staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and employees

  • Assist Executive Chef and Pastry Chef by controlling food and labor cost, and establish goals and objectives that focus on profit, product and people

  • Assist Executive Chef and Pastry Chef by controlling of purchasing, receiving, purveyor lists and inventory of all kitchen items

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Either a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent educational experience

  • 2 years of prior relevant experience as a Pastry Sous Chef or Head Baker

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT:

  • Knowledge of bakery equipment to include, but not limited to a slicing machine, mixers, VCR, and small wares equipment

  • Knowledge of weights, measures and various baking and preparation techniques and advanced knife skills

  • Strong knowledge of American and European pastries such as viennoiserie, danish and bread

  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
