Job Summary
The Assistant Athletic Director for Communications assists with the day-to-day operations of the athletic department as well as program/coach evaluation & supervision. The Assistant Athletic Director oversees Athletics communication and provides development and management of the web page and publications for varsity sports, including writing, editing, and design, statistical compilation & execution, publicity, public & media relations, budget and press box management. The Assistant Athletic Director also serves as host to league and national championships, including NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournaments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications or similar discipline
- 2-3 years of experience in athletic administration.
- Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in sport oversight
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of NCAA, ECAC, and Liberty League rules.
- Strong writing skills, computer experience, knowledge of web site maintenance, demonstrated abilities with in-game sport information and statistical software.
- Demonstrated Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion.

Starting Salary/Rate
Expected hiring range: $58,500-$80,000.
Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate's salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer's good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
