Assistant / Associate / Director Of Financial Reporting & Budgeting

In this role, you will be responsible for oversight of the Foundation’s budget and disbursement functions, as well as Financial Reporting, audit coordination, and compliance.

Based on qualifications and experience, a selected candidate may hold one of these job titles: Assistant Director of Financial Reporting & Budgeting, Associate Director of Financial Reporting & Budgeting, or Director of Financial Reporting & Budgeting.

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the periodic and annual financial statement preparation.

• Research, analyze, and implement new accounting pronouncements and other best practices that impact Financial Reporting and processes.
• Audit duties including assisting with annual audit of Financial statements, preparation of the draft of audited financial statements, and assisting with annual audit of the foundation’s 403(b) retirement plan.

• Coordinate the annual budget process as prepared by foundation budget managers and units.

• Manage the budget and monitor against operations throughout the year and perform detailed reviews at the six-month and nine-month periods.

• Manage all disbursement activity including foundation and university (private gift dollars) expenditures.

• Review all operational expenditures, cash transfers, and salary transactions.
• Manage administration of charitable remainder trust and gift annuity program including communicating with third party administrators and coordinating required tax filings and mailing of annual beneficiary reports.
• Manage daily general ledger activity, coordinate monthly an annual closings of the general ledger, assist with daily cash management, and assist with administration of the general ledger system.

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA, MBA, or MAcc preferred.
• 2+ years of professional experience required, preferably in auditing and nonprofit accounting.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to write technical and detailed financial information that can be understood by persons unfamiliar with financial and legal complexities.
• Excellent decision-making, problem solving, and research skills.
• Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and analytical.

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications, database and accounting software, and possess the ability to learn in-house computer systems.
• Must adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
