Job description

The Weld County department of Human Services is recruiting an Assistance Payments Case Reviewer who will perform sample and random reviews of multiple Human Services programs, including but not limited to Food Assistance, Child Care, Medicaid, Colorado Works, Long Term Care and Adult Financial, based on Federal and State rules & regulations and associated State computer systems. Provides written case review results and uses results to assist in recommending trainings and process improvements.

$27.36 - $34.66 per hour plus benefits (see benefits tab on the job posting). The position will normally start at $27.36 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Case Reviews (50%):

Review and research sample client applications, redeterminations and changes processed by technicians.

Provides an assessment of reviewed case accuracy and quality utilizing current program rules, requirements, and processing guidelines.

Identifies and communicates potential areas of improvement.

Addresses employee and supervisor questions on errors cited and provides clear constructive feedback that supports a learning environment for all.

Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and policies and procedures.

Communicate orally and in writing in both one and on and group situations.

Apply math concepts and calculations used for case reviews.

Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and understand the appropriate release of information requirements.

System Usage (20%):

Completes comprehensive case reviews using data available in all eligibility systems and interfaces.

Utilizes local case review tool to complete each required case reviews as mandated by state and federal regulations.

Utilizes state provided case review tools and processes as required.

Provides timely and accurate documentation and comprehensive case review feedback to appropriate staff and supervisors to improve technician performance and services.

Program Knowledge (10%):

Maintains up to date familiarity with program rules, eligibility criteria, and processing guidelines across all high-level program areas.

Regularly reviews and interprets program updates to ensure accurate implementation.

Stays informed about any changes in regulations, systems, or internal procedures relevant to program compliance.

Data Tracking (10%):

Uses information obtained from case reviews to identify error trends or deficiencies in training.

Communicates trends and identified training needs, in writing, to both the Training and Quality Supervisors.

Other Duties as Assigned (10%)

Participates in continual process improvement efforts for the case review team. Suggesting updates to forms, tools, and processes to the Training and Quality Supervisors as needed.

Assists with case processing and authorization as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalency, AND

One (1) year of successful work experience determining eligibility for public assistance programs utilizing the Colorado Benefits Management System.

AND

Candidate must possess a strong understanding and working knowledge of all high-level program groups that require case reviews including SNAP, Colorado Works, Adult Financial and Medical Assistance programs AND

Three (3) years of full -time business and/or clerical experience in an office environment which includes extensive customer service, telephone and computer experience that includes data entry and Windows based navigation.

Candidate must pass humans services background check prior to employment start date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of an associate degree

Ability to keyboard at 35 words per minute.

Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills

Ability to enter data into several different computer programs.

Ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis.

Specific vision abilities are required for this job which include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus such as that used when using a computer or reading.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include visual acuity to Colorado driver's license requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is located primarily in the Greeley office, with some occasional need to travel to one of the satellite offices in Ft Lupton and Del Camino.

Standard working hours are M-F 8a.m. to 5p.m.

While this is primarily and in office position, there are limited opportunities after completing training for teleworking, the amount is based on the division telework plan will be approved in advance by the supervisor monthly.
