We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as an Assignment Editor Trainee.

Position Overview: The Assignment Editor Trainee at WINK News will undergo comprehensive training and mentorship to develop essential skills in news gathering, story development, and newsroom coordination. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while contributing to the overall news coverage strategy of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn and assist in monitoring various news sources, including scanners, social media, and news wires, to identify breaking news and story leads.
• Support the assignment desk by researching news stories, verifying facts, and assisting in story development.
• Collaborate with reporters, photographers, and newsroom personnel to coordinate coverage assignments and logistical arrangements.
• Shadow and learn from senior editors, gaining insights into news judgment, story selection, and editorial decision-making processes.
• Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date information in newsroom databases and systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (recent graduates or individuals pursuing degrees are encouraged to apply).
• Strong passion for news, storytelling, and a keen interest in pursuing a career in journalism.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• High level of curiosity, adaptability, and a desire to learn from experienced industry professionals.
• Basic understanding of newsroom operations, journalism principles, and digital media tools is a plus.
