THE CITY OF LEAWOOD, KANSAS is looking for an
Asset Management Coordinator

The position is eligible to receive merit based pay increases every year (merit increase up to 3.9% increase). Employees also receive a Time In Service Bonus every three years of employment on their anniversary date equal to 5% of their annual salary.

Summary of the Position: The Public Works Asset Management Coordinator assists in the development, documentation, coordination, and maintenance of the City’s Public Works Asset and Work Management Systems. This position will assist in the management of the allocation of labor resources, tools and equipment, ensure the accuracy of data, and provide performance metrics on a routine basis.

General Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Manages the City’s Public Works asset and work management software and the collection, analyzing and reporting of related data.
  • Assists the Public Works department in the implementation and operation of comprehensive asset/work management systems which may include integration of all divisions into one system linked to the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS).
  • Assists in the analysis and/or performance metrics of asset information to evaluate asset conditions and maintenance priorities.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of Public Works infrastructure data and user profiles in the City’s asset and work management system including entering and removing users, editing database user privileges, monitors or performs database backup procedures. Responsible for managing the inventory of City-owned tools and equipment.
  • Implement and improve systems to deliver timely, reliable data upon which City management can make informed decisions about short- and long-term care of capital assets and maintenance resources.
  • Responsible for tracking and monitoring the City’s infrastructure life cycle including receiving, storage, inventory, distribution, and disposal.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of Public Works data entered into the asset and work management system. Performs quality control checks on asset data, including location, condition and repair history of assets.
  • Conducts field verification, identification, and location of infrastructure, utilizing global positioning system.
  • Compiles, reports and interprets data for departmental programs including but not limited to data related to strategic planning, performance measures, fixed assets and monthly, quarterly, and annual Department activity reports.
  • Works with the Information Technology department in the configuration and ongoing maintenance of the asset and work management systems.
  • Responsible for working with the Information Technology department in ensuring system(s) compatibility with existing City hardware and operating systems.
  • Provides training, technical assistance, and user support to City departments and staff on the City’s Asset and Work Management Systems.
  • Works with the Information Technology department in customization of applications to increase productivity, generate reports, and improve maps and support business processes.

Minimum Requirements: Must have graduated from high school or have GED equivalent, and three years in public infrastructure environment, completion of over 100 hours from an accredited training program with an emphasis in GIS Integration, Asset Management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: Two-year, post-secondary degree/certificate in Engineering Technology, Geographic Information Systems, or related field with a working knowledge of municipal infrastructure and assets, familiarity with ArcGIS online, experience with Lucity or similar asset and work management systems and field devices for Android and iOS tablet devices and GPS devices and thorough technical knowledge and understanding of Asset Management criteria. Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per the City’s drivers Use of Vehicles for City Business policy throughout employment with the City.
