The Aspen High School seeks a full-time Library Media Specialist (LMS) to start SY 2024-2025 Position Title: Library Media Specialist Department: Aspen High School Reports to: Aspen High School PrincipalClassification: Classified Exempt/Salary or Certified (depending on licensure)Contract Period: 9 Month (185 days with some variance depending on the year)Salary Range: $47,940 - $59,595 annual starting salary DOE; CDE Certified Librarian paid on the certified schedule 2023-2024 ASD Salary Schedules https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11XVYsgproi5NXXfAeairHPVd75w5GpOch0d4ckfdb9w/edit#gid=1780507524 ASD offers district-funded employee and dependent health benefits including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance to benefit-eligible employees (prorated for part-time employees). I: Position Summary The Library Media Specialist works in the School Library to support students and staff with informational resources. This position requires the ability to support educational programming as well as advanced communication and collaboration skills. II.

Position ResponsibilitiesLibrary Media Specialist Responsibilities:Work with the administration as collaborative peers to provide leadership and meaningful learning experiences for students, staff, and communityTeach research/ digital citizenship /media literacy skills to help students utilize information technology in order to responsibly engage in their global communityEncourage and empowers students to become increasingly self-directed as they create digital products of their learning that engage them in critical thinking, collaboration, and authentic real-world problem-solvingBuild and manage a diverse collection in multiple formats that reflects a wide variety of viewpointsEmbed meaningful integration of digital literacy (technology, digital citizenship and more) into learning.Provide access to student self-selection of wide and diverse reading collections in a variety of formatsProvide teachers with and train them about vetted online and in-person resources to promote literacy skills Organize library materials for effective and efficient utilization, helping maintain a facility that is conducive to learningNavigate circulation management, book processing, cataloging, and report generation Using best library practices, update the library collection through additions and weeding of materialsPossess knowledge of qualitative and quantitative ranges of text complexityManage the ordering for books, databases, resources, and suppliesCreate partnerships by attending grade level/department meetings, serving on the school's leadership team, and participating in other committees such as technology Collaborate with the MYP Personal Project Coordinator to support students and staff with their personal projects.Coordinate IB Extended Essay work with IB students and IB Coordinator to research and develop essays; and support IB students and teachers with IA research sessionsCoordinate with and/or teach Freshman Seminar to introduce research skills and a research component to that courseSupervise the learning space, oversee chromebook management and the student printerManage the duties of volunteers in the media centerShare with the learning community collaboratively developed and up-to-date policies concerning materials selection, circulation, reconsideration of materials, copyright, privacy, and acceptable usePerform other related duties as assigned or requested.III. Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related fieldSignificant knowledge of GSuite for Education, computer systems, and software V.

Preferred Qualifications Masters of Library and Information Science highly recommendedHigh School Teaching or Librarian ExperienceColorado Professional teacher license Bilingual in English & SpanishCurrent First Aid and CPR certification VI. Work EnvironmentClassroom and library settingsOffice environment; exposure to computer screens Mostly clean and comfortable surroundings VII. Essential Physical RequirementsPhysical: Reaching, walking, standing, sitting, squatting, stooping, typing, talking, crouching, kneeling, seeing, and hearing.
