Serves as telephone operator for facility, responsible for correct routing of incoming calls, taking accurate messages when unable to connect to requested part, and calling room turnovers over the intercom
Serves as a bridge of communication between family members waiting and the patient care process
Ensures efficient and accurate computer data entry of all necessary demographic and insurance informations correct use of department specific equipment
Demonstrates knowledge of common formats for correspondence & reports
Accurately opens, sorts and routes
Appropriately addresses routine questions regarding departmental operations
Demonstrate mail; Prepares daily paperwork and distributes in a timely manner
Monitors inventory and requests business office supplies when needed, utilizes resources appropriately
Maintains security and confidentiality of medical records
Ensures support of medical record preparation prior to day of surgery.
Responsible for petty cash and financial transactions and follow generally accepted accounting practice and facility practice.
Utilizes resources appropriately avoiding wasteful practices
Analyzes work area for potential cost-effective improvements
Ensures review of prequalification in a timely manner and any unmet pre-surgical/pre-procedure requirements
Keeps departmental files and log books in a complete, accurate and neat manner; i.e., work order and visitor log books
Collects data for performance improvement activities.
Serve as a liaison to Anesthesia Services to ensure collection of payment, distribution of schedule/insurance info, and signatures on required documents.
Responsible for patient courtesy area, i.e., refreshments, supplies, cleanliness, etc.
Regularly attends department meetings
Completes dept/hospital required competencies as required.
