POSITION DESCRIPTION
Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and innovative Art Teacher to fulfill a vacancy in the district.
Position Type: Instructional- Art
Location: I A West - Lakeland High School 1630 Bogie Lake Road, White Lake, Mi 48383
Salary: Per HVEA Contract
Reports To: Principal
Status: 2023/24 School Year
Start Date: As soon as possible
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
• Must meet NCLB requirements for Highly Qualified
• Major in area of Art Instruction
• Longer school year calendar: 190 teacher days
• Longer school day: 7:45 a.m. - 3:35 p.m.
• International focus across the curriculum which will involve interdisciplinary planning
• Block scheduling (90 minute classes)
• Teacher responsibilities: classroom instructor, homeroom mentor, product team advisor,
• curriculum developer
• Encouraged to be involved in enrichment weeks
• Involvement in International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Programs
• Willingness to teach IB Theory of Knowledge
• Remain a contractual employee in the teacher's home district; new teachers are hired by one of
• the participating Oakland County consortium school districts
• Willingness to attend International Baccalaureate teacher training

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's or higher
LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
