ARM HW Architect
Description -
HP Retail and Industrial Solutions Business has a large and growing Android [portfolio for multiple Retail, Healthcare and Manufacturing use cases. Android is of increasing importance in market and HP is leading the industry by providing well designed, robust, built for purpose hardware with Android OS. This role is responsible for architecting our upcoming Android products. The Architect will lead the business and technical team creating long term strategy and building our next generation of products. Mobile and fixed products are in scope covering a wide range of use cases: Que busting, assisted selling , self service, Digital signage, AI, point of sale and others.
Responsibilities:
- Create a vision for HP Retail and Industrial Solutions Android hardware and develop a strategy for achieving the vision
- Develop processor and peripherals requirements for future for Android products
- Translate feature requests from Sales and Product Management into Engineering Specs.
- Work with processor vendors to understand their portfolios and roadmaps
- Work with ODMs to understand their capability and willingness to invest
- Explore third party partners who can contribute to achieving the vision
- Develop specific proposals for next generation products

- Be the recognized subject matter expert in Advanced Computing Group on ARM processor architecture and vendors.
- Work with the execution team throughout the development process to overcome obstacles to success
- Mentor the more junior members of the HP EE community
- Create new IP for HP leading to business value
- Advise senior management on ARM ecosystem and best path for HP success with Android products
- Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members to set an example of electrical hardware design and development innovation and excellence.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Typically 10+ years experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- RM Architecture
- ARM and Android development best practices
- EE best practices in ARM board development
- Experience architecting and delivering Android/Arm products
- Using electrical design tools and software packages.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience in overall architecture of electronic hardware for products and solutions.
- Designing and integrating electronic components, integrated circuitry, and algorithms into overall architecture.
- Evaluating, proposing, and selecting forms of empirical analysis, modeling and testing methodologies to validate component, circuit, and hardware designs and thermal/emissions management to be used across the organization.
- History of innovation with multiple patents in the field of electronics packaging.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
- Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at business unit and executive levels.
