Working in collaboration with and under the Regional Operations Director, The AOD oversees day to day operations of an area comprised of multiple assigned centers. The AOD develops and establishes as well as ensures consistency of policies and procedures across the area, establishes, and fosters appropriate staffing models, and guides clinic teams to provide exceptional patient and team member experiences. Provides guidance and leadership that supports operational objectives. Collaborates with Human Resources, and others on the Leadership team (Medical Assistant supervisor, Call Center supervisor, etc.) to meet operational objectives.
Area Operations Director Responsibilities:
Leadership / People Development
- Leads by example- acquires firsthand knowledge of daily clinic operations and participates in working the floor on a routine basis.
- Demonstrates exceptional leadership and management skills by personally ensuring that patients are provided with an exceptional experience.
- Responsible for decisions related to hiring, disciplinary actions, grievance discussions, coaching and recommendations for actions associated with these decisions.
- Conducts and supervises orientation and training for new team members.
- Coordinates clinic staff schedules to ensure efficient coverage for patient flow and provider’s needs.
- Conducts performance management for direct report team.
- Coaches team members on performance, and other job-related issues.
- Responsible for facilitating the creation of a center culture that encourages teamwork, following Unity’s core values.

Patient Care/ Patient Experience:
- Implements and ensures ongoing compliance with all operational policies, procedures, and training programs within the clinic.
- Monitors, evaluates, and recommends changes to procedures and policies to enhance patent experience.
- Establishes and maintains a warm, welcoming environment and professional atmosphere for our team members.
- Maintains patient communication and works towards accommodating patient needs/ requests.
- Manages clinic staffing daily.
- Monitors compliance with regulations, in accordance with current regulatory requirements.
- Supervises the maintenance of appropriate equipment and daily supplies.
- Follows up on billing issues for all assigned clinics.
Provider Experience:
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with clinicians.
- Responsible for ensuring that clinicians feel listened to and well supported.
- Responsible for enabling clinicians to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness through a combination of people, process and system improvement.
Financial Analysis:
- Evaluates Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) within each assigned clinic and provides solutions to close any performance gaps.
- Provides input on any needs for clinics to support business initiatives.
- Reviews and approves payrolls for all assigned clinics.
Scope Measures:
- AOD will oversee multiple clinics, and the number of clinics will vary depending on complexity and geography.
- 70% - 90% of the time, AOD will be in clinics, coaching and mentoring staff regarding clinic performance, financials, team member engagement, patient satisfaction, overall clinic management, etc. 30%-10% of the time will be focused on other administrative activities.
- Each clinic will receive a visit at least 3-4 times a month, depending on the number of clinics assigned and business need.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to visit assigned clinics weekly to observe, monitor operations and develop team members.
- Ability to visit unassigned clinics and other work-related travel as needed.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, either standing or sitting.
- Ability to move within the clinic to access computers, patient areas, team member areas, etc.
Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate outstanding collaboration, flexibility, and teamwork.
- Excellent office, project management and health care software skills.
- Excellent management and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to create and maintain strong relationships with physicians, staff, central support, and other key players.
