Job Summary:

RailPros has a great opportunity for a senior level engineer to join our Company in a leadership position for the structural discipline. In this position you will lead a team of engineers designing, reviewing and winning new structures work. Preferred location for this position is in the Pacific Northwest (East Bay area to Sacramento are preferred). This is a key leadership position at RailPros that will interface with engineers throughout the nation. We have current projects requiring design and review of new railroad bridges, drainage structures and retaining walls in various locations throughout the United States. This role will be responsible for one of our largest accounts / projects in the Bay area.

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 4 direct reports, with a goal to expand to 6-10 direct reports within the next 12 months.

  • Engage directly with Railroads, Industries, Property owners, and other key entities to promote and offer RailPros fee-based Design & Railroad Coordination Services.

  • Build and foster professional relationships with Economic Development Commissions, Industries, Railroads, and other entities to position RailPros as the preferred choice for rail-centric design and coordination needs.

  • Attend rail industry functions, events, and conferences to effectively market the value of RailPros, entertain clients and potential clients, and increase the likelihood of selecting RailPros as their rail engineering and development provider.

  • Collaborate with colleagues from all departments and levels within RailPros to develop comprehensive proposals and scope services for clients.

  • Lead face-to-face and virtual meetings to determine the most suitable RailPros service offering for clients and present additional services for future consideration.

  • Contribute to the creation, development, and implementation of new RailPros service offerings in coordination with the RailPros Field Services team.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of work activities, meetings, and contacts to ensure high-quality documentation.

  • Use effective sales strategies and negotiation skills to secure contracts for RailPros services.

  • Secure through contracts and/or letters of authorization from clients as much revenue for RailPros as possible with a goal of ever increasing total annual revenue growth for a calendar year.

  • Other duties as assigned or required to meet the business needs.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Leadership and management skills to oversee and manage a team of direct reports.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with key entities such as Railroads, Industries, and Property owners.
  • Networking and business development skills to nurture business relationships with Economic Development Commissions, Railroads, and other entities in the industry.
  • Ability to represent the company at functions, events, and conferences related to the rail industry, effectively marketing the value of RailPros and entertaining clients and potential clients.
  • Collaboration skills to work with other RailPros staff in all departments to develop proposals and scope services for clients.
  • Facilitation and negotiation skills to lead meetings, both in-person and virtual, to determine the best service offerings for clients and present future services for consideration.
  • Innovative thinking and ability to create and implement new service offerings in collaboration with others.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain detailed records of work activities, meetings, and contacts.
  • Contract negotiation and procurement skills to secure contracts through effective sales strategies and negotiations.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Civil Engineer Degree from an accredited University
  • 20 years' experience

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 20 plus years in the Rail Engineering Industry or the Construction Industry are preferred
  • PE or PMP Certification is a plus
