Architectural Designer (Visualization Specialist)

BBB is hiring an enthusiastic Architectural Designer (Visualization Specialist) to join our Washington, DC office.  

In addition to working locally with a broad and diverse group of professionals at all stages of career development, new hires will collaborate virtually with BBB design professionals in the New York and Boston offices. All BBB employees, including new hires, can participate in staff initiatives that advance professional skills, connect staff outside the realm of project work, and promote environmental and social well-being values.  

I. Role  

BBB is looking for an Architectural Designer with proven experience creating high-quality 3D models, renderings, animations, and immersive environments. This individual will collaborate with project teams to represent design sketches and develop projects visually for clients. This individual will work on multiple projects simultaneously and must have excellent time management skills. This position will focus primarily on Institutional, Mixed-Use, Residential, and Master Planning projects in the greater Washington, D.C. area.   

II. Responsibilities  

• Translating designers' concepts into 3D or 2D illustrations that effectively communicate design intent to clients  
• Collaborating with project teams to represent design sketches and develop projects visually  
• Creating high-quality 3D models, renderings, animations, and immersive environments  
• Collaborating with project teams to define design sketches and develop projects visually  
• Identifying workflows, tools, and efficiencies to enhance project outcomes  
• Educating design teams on best practices, methods, and new technologies  

III. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience  

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Visual Arts, Graphic Arts, or equivalent  
• 3+ years of working experience or equivalent in an architecture firm   
• Experience working on Institutional, Mixed-Use, Residential, and Master Planning projects is a plus
• Advanced renderings skills, including experience doing both exterior and interior renderings as well as aerial views   
• Demonstrated experience translating architect's sketches and CAD/Revit (plus) documents into realized 3D models   
• Expertise in industry-standard visualization software, including Enscape, Vray, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite, is required
• Proficiency Rhino 3ds Max, V-Ray, SketchUp, Lumion is preferred
• Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in all visualizations 
• Collaborate closely with our architectural team to understand design intent and project requirements 
• Incorporate feedback to refine and enhance visualizations as needed
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to research solutions to artistic or technical challenges
