Job description

Summary

We are seeking a talented and motivated Architectural Designer Level 1 to join our design team. As a Designer Level 1, you will work closely with the director of architecture to assist in the design and development of various projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

        Collaborate with the director of architecture to create design concepts and proposals.

        Assist in the production of detailed drawings and specifications.

        Conduct research and gather relevant information for design projects.

        Prepare presentation materials, including visual representations of design ideas.

        Assist in project coordination and documentation.

        Stay updated with the latest design trends and industry developments.

Minimum Requirements

        Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited university required.

        Strong knowledge of design principles, concepts, and techniques.

        Proficiency in design software (e.g., REVIT, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).

        Good communication and collaboration skills.

        Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

        A strong interest in the field of design and a desire to learn and grow.

        A minimum of two (2) year's experience in residential, commercial or institutional design projects required.

        Must have basic knowledge of building codes.

        Demonstrated ability to build and study architectural scaled models in 3D.

        Proficient with MS Office software; including MS Word, Excel, Building Information Management (BIM) Revit software, and computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software.

        A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors - environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside occasional site visits will be required following all federal/state/client safety requirements.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a standard office atmosphere.

Description of environment: Office building with standard office environment.

Physical requirements:  Employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: Employee may travel to remote areas and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.

  1. Design skills: Strong proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, REVIT) or other relevant software. Demonstrated ability to create visually appealing designs and layouts.
  2. Creativity: A strong sense of creativity and the ability to develop original ideas and concepts. Being able to think outside the box and bring innovative solutions to design challenges.
  3. Attention to detail: An eye for detail and the ability to produce accurate and polished designs. Ensuring that all elements, typography, colors, and images are well-aligned and cohesive.
  4. Collaboration: Effective collaboration and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams. Being able to understand and incorporate feedback from various stakeholders and deliver designs that meet their expectations.
  5. Time management: The ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines effectively. Being able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality work on time.
  6. Design principles: A good understanding of fundamental design principles, including layout, typography, color theory, and composition. The ability to apply these principles to create aesthetically pleasing and functional designs.
  7. Problem-solving: The capacity to identify design-related issues and develop practical and creative solutions. Being able to analyze user requirements or business goals and translate them into effective design solutions.
  8. Adaptability: Being open to feedback and willing to iterate and improve designs based on user feedback or changing project requirements. Embracing new design trends, technologies, and tools to stay current in the field.
