Architectural BIM Manager 

POSITION SUMMARY

The BIM Manager’s role is to understand and communicate how BIM will effect project workflows, deliverables and project management. The primary responsibility is to manage and coordinate company BIM standards, implementation, and enforcement on all related BIM projects, files and models. This includes the understanding of a work scope and plan for the development, implementation, and quality assurance checks needed for full BIM integration in each project.

·         Responsible for developing and implementing BIM workflow and driving standard usage of BIM and Revit within and outside the firm

·         Oversee the use of BIM/Revit software, including installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting all BIM installations as well as analyzing and solving BIM user issues

·         Provide end-user training, support and leadership

·         Support each project team by managing and creating content library files and templates,  creating and enforcing company standards, and evaluating project models

·         Support project start-up coordination, helping teams develop strategies for effective delivery of quality documents, and set-up each project, ensuring that all documents are properly set up and all team members, including engineers are aware of the standards and the project requirements.

·         Coordinate with IT the selection of BIM software products, including but not limited to licensing compliance, incorporating new version releases, maintaining legacy software and customizing software for specific firm needs

·         Manage the implementation of supporting software and plug-ins for BIM

·         Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies

·         Stay informed on best practices for use of Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM

·         Stay informed on other BIM related software products and their interaction with Revit

·         Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement

·         Creation and maintenance of the template files to assure standards

·         Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions

·         Automate routines in BIM to support standards and productivity

·         Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards of all design and construction drawings

·         Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow process standards

·         Coordinate the team BIM user group (including all engineers) and ensure regular communication and coordination among BIM/Revit users

·         Troubleshoot problems

QUALIFICATIONS

· Professional architectural degree preferred or equivalent experience.

· Ten + years of experience in architectural practice preferred.

  Ten + years of BIM practice preferred

· Knowledge of architectural detailing and current construction standards.

· Understanding of architectural design and related fields.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD (latest version), Revit and other business software and their application to contract documents.

· Knowledge of codes. Able to successfully complete the permitting process with aid and supervision of the Project Manager.

· Demonstrate oral and written English communication skills.

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

· Understanding and implementation of  drawings standards.

· Quality of construction documents. Primary performance measurement: Feedback from quality control (plan check reviews) and construction administration (i.e. number of plan related RFIs and change orders).

· Ability to complete a project on schedule and within budget. Primary performance measurements: total actual hours as a percent of available hours (including originally estimated hours and additional service hours).

· Proactive management of allocated time.

· Number and complexity of projects completed

· Exercise the responsibilities and perform the duties of this position. This includes responsibilities and duties managed within the guidelines provided by the company's Employee Manual.

The BIM Manager reports to the Project Principal.
