A key component of the Capital Construction & Renovations (CC&R) team, Design Services supports UVA Facilities Management’s mission of adapting to the needs of tomorrow by providing in-house architectural and engineering design leveraging BIM technology. Your Role:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Architect Technician, Architect Associate, or Architect to join our team of professionals. You will be coordinating all aspects of design through construction activities associated with simple to moderately complex construction work. Projects may include renovation, adaptive reuse, and additions to existing facilities and landscapes. You would assist in facilitating project management and financial analysis of projects and may train others in similar job-related functions. Working directly with our Architect Team Leader, you will be encouraged to pursue projects independently with guidance and direction provided as needed. Ultimately, we believe that this role is a key contributor to deliver the highest value and best outcomes to our clients.

What You Will Do:

Architect Technician:

  • Provide initial concept designs for preliminary pricing for client input.

  • Coordinate with engineering team and other external consultants on all project needs.

  • Utilize Revit to prepare design studies and construction document sets with oversight from senior team members.

  • Perform field investigation of sites to verify scope of projects, existing conditions, and construction progress.

  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Architect Associate:

In addition to the duties listed above,

  • Meet with and maintain communication among all participants on design teams to review project scope, budget, and schedule.

  • Implement established budget and schedule to meet program needs and limitations. Develop construction administration strategy with team leaders.

  • Perform QAQC of all construction drawings and details, allowing for adequate review time for the full team to implement design modifications as necessary.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining project financial management plan using eBuilder.

Architect:

In addition to the duties listed above,

  • Independently manage project financial management plan using eBuilder.

  • Lead projects with multiple team members from concept design through construction completion.

  • Facilitate client and stakeholder discussions to review design progress at various milestones throughout the project.

Qualifications:

Architect Technician:

Education: Associate degree in architectural drafting
Experience: Four years of experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for degree.

Architect Associate:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, building construction, or related discipline
Experience: Four years of experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for degree.

Architect:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related discipline
Experience: Four years of experience.
Licensure: Professional Architect Registration

Compensation:

  • Architect Technician: Minimum starting salary of $50,000; actual starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

  • Architect Associate: Minimum starting salary of $65,000; actual starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

  • Architect: Minimum starting salary of $82,500; actual starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Physical Demands:

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
