Position Description:
The Arabic/Spanish ESSER Family Liaison is fluent in both Arabic and the Spanish language and/or fluent in at least ONE of the aforementioned languages. He/She/They will work directly with English Learners within the Niles North and Niles West school communities. ESSER Family Liaisons will be responsible for interpreting, translations, and parent support. Specifically, ESSER Family Liaisons work as a bridge between the school and the districts families
Skills Required:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Help foster effective communication;
Translate correspondences;
Advocate on the behalf of families whose first language is other than English;
Support the Multilingual Department in ensuring diverse families and communities are integrated into the school program;
Interpret at school events and/or for counselors, deans, and teacher meetings etc.;
Assist families with the various school technology platforms such as Infinite Campus and Canvas;
Assist families with the registration process for school and course enrollment;
Call parents to notify them of various parent meetings, workshops and relevant events
Through the direction of the Multilingual Director, help facilitate parent meetings at Niles North and Niles West.
Connect families with local social service agencies such as health services, financial institutions, food pantries, and the ELL Parent Center in Skokie.
Experience Required
Working with parents in a school setting
Experience working in a high school
Partnership experience
Arabic and Spanish fluency
Education Required:
At least an Associates degree
