Diversified Laboratory Repair is currently seeking an Apprentice Refrigeration Technician / Field Service Engineer.
Your Role:
As an entry level Refrigeration Technician / Field Service Engineer at Diversified Laboratory Repair, you will play a crucial part in servicing and maintaining various laboratory equipment.
Duties:
- Perform repairs, installations, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on diverse laboratory equipment, both on-site and at our repair facility.
- Collaborate with senior technicians to assist with refrigeration installations.
- Maintain accurate and organized service/maintenance records.
- Safely handle refrigerant recovery.
- Work primarily during standard hours (M-F, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM), but occasional overtime may be required.
- Learn from and be guided by experienced senior technicians and Service Managers.

Autoclaves, Blood Bank Freezers and Refrigerators, Centrifuges, Chillers/Chiller Systems, CO2 and LN2 Back-Up Systems, Cold Traps, Control Rate Freezers, Cycle Chambers, Environmental Chambers, Freeze Dryers, Glassware Washers, Ice Makers, Incubator, laboratory Freezers (-20, -40), Liquid Nitrogen Freezers
Ovens, Plasma Freezers, Refrigerators, Shakers, Speed Vacs, Steam Generators, Ultra Cold Freezers (-80, -135, -150), Vapor Traps, Walk-in Freezers and Refrigerators
Qualifications:
- Formal refrigeration training or 2 years of hands-on experience
- Technical school certificates and/or formal HVAC training/experience is not required but will be considered when determining proficiency level and starting compensation
- Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations in the last 3 years
- Universal EPA Certification preferred
- Analytic ability and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Basic electrical and control troubleshooting experience
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to undergo a government background check, as we frequently work at secure government facilities
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
- Must be at least 18 years of age when you start on day 1
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- A strong desire to learn a trade and directly impact the world around you
Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure:
- Must be able to operate a vehicle using a seat belt safely and legally
- Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties
- Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction
- Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands
- Must be able to reach your hands over your head
- This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.
- This role may be exposed to variable temperature conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on location.
