Key position responsibilities:
You will have the opportunity to interact with a multi-discipline team of 15-20 engineers designing new, innovative solutions for our customers. Your role requires you to solve complex problems in a range of engineering activities including performing mathematical modeling to estimate performance of new and existing products, participate in requirements development, development of design and performing tests to characterize system performance requirements, analysis of collected data using appropriate tools (i.e., Python, Excel, etc.) to verify performance requirements and analyze trends, and writing reports and presentations to document results of tests to be presented to internal and external customers.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess/be able to do the following:
· Generate scientific and mathematical models using Python or similar tools to estimate performance and quantify results for communication and discussion with teammates and leadership so appropriate decisions can be made to advance the solution
· Envision, design, develop, and execute scientific experiments to collect associated data which:
o Characterize cause and effect relationships and perform critical analysis of the resulting data to reinforce or dispute theories associated with proposed engineering solutions
o Characterize established project performance requirements and provide sufficient evidence for meeting the objective of the system requirements
o Analyze collected system data to identify outliers, clusters, correlations, and changes over time.
· Research and study complex physical phenomena in the natural sciences that pertain to new or legacy engineering solutions envisioned by the engineering team to address failure or proposed enhancements
· Assemble reports, briefings, and technical white papers to thoroughly document all elements of the research, studies, and data analysis, to formulate an archive upon which future investigation may be based
· Conduct literature reviews, initiate and engage in vendor discussions, and participate in engineering field studies to research and theorize cause and effect relationships pertaining to proposed engineering solutions
· Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver briefings to customers and various levels of management
· Possess a willingness to operate and control globally deployed unmanned systems and distributed sensor systems from time to time.
· Possess a willingness to travel if needed for infield operations (spirit of adventure!).
