The Applications Engineer position will be responsible for working with our Conifer Systems Engineering team. This position will report to the Director of Engineering and be located at our Houston location. The Applications Engineer will promote, sell, and complete application engineering tasks on Conifer’s air pollution systems to recognized or potential end-users, engineers and contractors. As a technical expert on Conifer's products, the Applications Engineer will work closely with plants, owners, engineering consultants, contractors, and others, providing engineering expertise, and pollution control problem-solving advice.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Provides application engineering support for multiple projects. Consistently follows up on projects.
2. Provides project support for submittals, production, and product delivery during construction.
3. Supports sales efforts, to provide close personal service; assisting in developing new accounts and product applications, to increase market share, and provide superior customer service.
4. Assists with inquiries, proposals, and orders; performs Application Engineering, writes and submits orders to the plants. Maintains contact with the plant to coordinate production, shipping, delivery, and customer satisfaction matters.
5. Works with customer representatives to determine project requirements, and provides any necessary technical assistance or service.
6. Gathers relevant project information, and provides explanations and direction to customer on products and applications.
7. Investigates customer complaints and claims through on-site visits when appropriate, to determine importance and proper action; recommends adjustments or allowances, and advises customer of final disposition.
8. Communicates commercial policies and practices to customers in coordination with the sales team as necessary, to assist them or to resolve any problem incident to the sale of company's products.
9. Conducts sales presentations and educational seminars.
10. Works as a collaborative member of our sales and business development team to sell company products.
11. Using established guidelines, negotiates terms and conditions of sales contracts involving sales price, discounts, freight, delivery, rejected or excess material disposition, etc., to assure a profit and a high level of customer satisfaction.
12. Continually improves product knowledge through familiarization with all product literature, design specifications, field and laboratory test results, and hands-on experience in the field and manufacturing plants.
13. Obtains favorable specifications for our products
14. Develops and maintains statistical data on competitors' products, quality, sales, pricing, production facilities, limitations, and marketing procedures.
15. Develops information on competitive price situations; verifies and analyzes quotations as to company's ability to meet customer proposals and makes recommendations.
16. Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience Required:
1. BS or MS in Mechanical, Chemical, Process or related engineering field; or its demonstrated equivalent, expertise gained through training and knowledge of company products and their use.
2. 5+ years' application experience in thermal and/or pollution control capital equipment; especially thermal oxidizers, bag houses, scrubber, industrial ovens and/or furnaces.
3. Broad engineering knowledge and extensive knowledge of the construction industry with thorough business knowledge in marketing and sales.
4. High level communications skills.
5. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, CRM software, basic CAD)
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Ability to prepare and review standard engineering documentation.
8. Able to work independently as well as part of a team, with ability to accomplish results through others.
9. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, primarily within North America.
10. Drug screen and background check required.
