Applications Engineer I

The Applications Engineering position responds to requests from the sales and field operations personnel as they relate to equipment selection, performance, and operational requirements. The primary day to day efforts involve performing evaluations of equipment for applicability to customer requests and documenting the results of those efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Review customer requests for applicability and functional requirements as they relate to available equipment
- Use hand calculations or software to generate performance runs for compressor or gas cooler units
- Select suitable equipment from the existing fleet of equipment for fulfilling customer requests
- Support the sales organization in responding to customer requests
- Develop budgets and schedules to manage necessary repairs and/or modifications of equipment for deployment
- Communicate with vendors and third parties to support repair, deployment, and proper operation of the equipment
- Inspect, certify, and evaluate work performed on equipment by third parties
- Maintain records of repair, modification and cost performed on equipment
- Ensure all quality control standards are conformed to
- Prepare reports summarizing work performed
- Advise and consult with upper management, customer, industry representatives concerning business opportunities, general industry trends, or other impacts to the business generally
Requirements:
- BS degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 0-3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry; preference for those with experience with gas compressors
- Experience with ASME, API, NEC, OSHA, and NFPA terms, codes, and requirements
- Requires good language skills, written and spoken
- Proficient with Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation, and Scheduling software
- Able to maintain high levels of organization while managing multiple assignments
- Willing to take ownership of assignments and complete them in a timely manner
- Customer service oriented
Work Environment:
The position is primarily office based however occasional exertion of force in excess of 10 pounds. Occasional travel to and from repair facilities will be required; less than 10% of work time. Ability to adhere to standard PPE requirements when in shop or field environments will be required.
