Contractor IT Applications Developer - Quality Assurance Lead

Under direct supervision, perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) duties for Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) information technology (IT) projects. Responsible for supporting the planning, design and execution of system testing on simple to complex IT implementations. Work collaboratively within the Business Technology Support Division (BTSD) and business units to execute and validate test cases based upon system requirements. As part of a QA/QC team, work with other analysts, developers, project managers, database administrators, and network staff. Communicate status of work activities to supervisors and project managers. Participate in the full range of software product development activities, including requirements gathering; analysis and definition; coding and testing; security; possible production support; all within a team environment. Assist in the development of functional and technical design and system specifications. Develop test plans for what is needed to test applications, develop and code automated testing scripts, develop test scripts, test the applications, validate that user expectations are achieved, communicate and work with other developers and make recommendations when bugs/errors are found. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • The primary responsibility will be to develop automation code that automates testing using Visual Studio, C# and Selenium WebDriver, deployment and configuration of products
  • Implement and evolve risk-based testing in IT-business product lines
  • Provide automation capabilities via testing tools, must be able to write automation scripts
  • Develop Quality Assurance strategies for infrastructure and software products
  • Must be able to handle smoke testing, regression testing, integration testing, web services testing, and other automated processes

Under general direction, this position would be responsible for analyzing, planning, designing and executing testing activities on the designated project(s) ensuring that the goals and objectives of the project(s) are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and requirements. Must have excellent relationship building, leadership and development skills. NDOT utilizes agile development methodology. NDOT web applications are built in MVC pattern with MSF C#.NET, HTML, JavaScript, CSS and XML which interact with the Departments Information Systems. NDOT has a number of legacy systems built using COBOL, CICS and DB2 Z/OS. The candidate chosen for this position will be tasked to analyze, design, develop and support QA automation test scripts for applications using C#, Visual Studio and Selenium WebDriver after verification of processes using manual testing. The ideal candidate is someone who is an experienced lead IT developer with a passion for QA testing using both manual and automation tools.

Requirements:

  • Qualified applicants will have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Technical degree in Computer Science/Software Development (or equivalent combination of education and minimum 5+ year’s QA automation experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of QA automation experience and highly skilled at Visual Studio, C# and Selenium WebDriver.
  • Must possess experience with the following activities:
    • Leading and training QA team in manual and automation testing
    • Experience testing and writing automated test scripts for applications using Visual Studio, C# and Selenium WebDriver
    • Experience with Postman API testing
    • Perform analysis and document QA process flows
    • Use best practices and QA standards for a project
    • Extremely detail oriented
    • Explore and gain a thorough understanding of the business
    • Work as part of a software development team in the testing of projects
    • Experience with Visual Studio GIT source control
    • Experience with .NET entity framework
    • Experiences with MVC and MVP
    • Experience with XML and XSD Schemas (Altova XMLSpy or oXygen XML Developer is a plus)
    • Experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, front end development.
    • Experience using Microsoft SQL Server and TSQL.
    • Experience with SQL (Structured Query Language).
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Candidate must work onsite.
    • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
    • Occasional weekend work will be required.
    • Manage his/her own tasks in project

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of test management software. Familiarity with Agile frameworks, Visual Studio using C# and Selenium WebDriver to design automation framework to develop/execute test cases. DevOps and regression testing is a plus. A keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. Analytical thinking and problem-solving aptitude. Strong organizational skills. Ability to document and troubleshoot errors. Ability to execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyze results.

  • Telerik Tool set
  • Experience with Web Services and Windows Services.
  • Experience with Agile development utilizing SCRUM.
  • Experience with SSRS reports is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with SSIS is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with authentication against active directory.
