Application Architect
**This is a remote position
Summary:
The Application Architect works with a hands-on approach to architecture. This role often acts as a tech-lead engaged in the analysis, design and engineering/re-engineering of Buzz Integrations cloud-based software platform focusing on our Claim Adjudication Engine. The position serves as the central point of responsibility within IT for platform design and architecture. Application architect leads the strategic efforts creating an enterprise architecture and master plan that ties together our experiences, data, workflows, capabilities, business strategy, applications, integration and back-end services in a cohesive and integrated way. The team
leads the efforts to architect scalable, modern experiences, platforms and solutions, using next generation enterprise architecture practices and emerging technologies defining efficient and strategic technology roadmaps.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with diverse, geographically distributed teams in a startup-like environments. This role should have innate curiosity and deep empathy: by speaking with someone for half an hour to understand their core concerns, motivations, and what would be necessary to create value for them. Solution Architect is passionate about building game-changing software with the experience to back it up and excited to apply the skills to revolutionize development resources in managing and delivering quality software product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop flexible, adaptable, modular, and reusable solution designs in collaboration with business stakeholders, product owners and development teams while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards
Act as an enabler of Agile and DevSecOps practices in collaboration with product delivery and operation support teams
Leads the creation of solution and architectural views (logical, conceptual, development, execution, infrastructure, and operations architecture)
Help maintain a business unit-level repository of architecture assets (platforms, services, APIs, technical dept, etc.) and promote reuse across the organization
Review high-level designs with technical leads and developers, review code, enforce best practices, assist with debugging critical issues, and enforce performance testing to deliver efficient and performant application
Creates hands-on proof of concepts when and where appropriate to bolster solutions and recommendations
Mentors and leads offshore and remote development team members
Brings new innovative solutions and technology to architectural challenges
Recommends scalable cloud hosting and infrastructure-based solutions
Proactive toward the broadest possible view of an issue/challenge; has broad-ranging personal and business interests and pursuits; can easily pose future scenarios; can think globally; can discuss multiple aspects and impacts of issues and project them into the future
Understands cloud hosting systems involved (including Azure and AWS) and can creatively think through troubleshooting problems
Support the infrastructure DevSecOps team by defining all non-functional system requirements for the initiative and ensuring that they are met
Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of solution architectural design, implementation, or consulting experience in Web, Mobile-App, Microservice based REST API platforms, and DevSecOps
7+ years of combined experience acting as a Tech-Lead and/or Sr. Software Engineer in specific technology domain areas (e.g., cloud computing, infrastructure, security, data analytics, api development)
Demonstrated experience in willingness to learning and implementing rules engines, high performant and scalable API architecture stacks.
An "execution mindset" focused on getting things done quickly and simply
Strong interpersonal skills and evidence of enabling teamwork in a matrix environment
Expert level experience with Azure Cloud technologies
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare industry with exposure to HIPAA compliance, PHI and PII
Expert level experience with .NET, ASP.NET, MSSQL and related technology stacks
Experience with rule-based engines
Experience with claim adjudication engines in the healthcare space
Strong understanding of the data and standards that drive pharmacy and PBM systems. This includes drug data (FDB, Medispan, GSDD, NADAC, etc), NCPDP standards (SCRIPT, Telecom, other), and pharmacy data (NCPDP DataQ) and prescriber data (IQVIA, NPPES, etc)
Participates in industry work groups such as NCPDP – tracks key standards changes and informs the organization of their potential impacts
5+ years of experience with the pharmacy, PBM, or digital healthcare space.
Certificate Preference:
TOGAF
Certified Information Systems Security Professional - Architecture (CISSP)
Work Location
This position can be remote for purposes of providing adequate support to internal clients; offshore teams, being available for interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.
Working Hours
This is an exempt level position requiring one to work the hours needed to get the job done. Therefore, one must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. This may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Travel
This position may require domestic travel as well as attendance at various local conferences and meetings.
