Summary
Apple's GPU Software team develops Metal, an API for GPU programming that allows efficient use of the GPU and minimizes CPU overhead. It has enabled developers to achieve far greater realism, detail, and interactivity in their games. It is the foundation for applying the GPU across all of Apple's innovative products, from iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, to Apple TV, and macOS.
We are looking for an engineer to join the Apple Silicon GPU Driver Prototyping Team, which is responsible for exploring and prototyping future GPU features.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for GPUs, rendering techniques, graphics/compute APIs and won't be afraid to get down into the low level details of the GPU architecture in order to prototype those features.
Key Qualifications
Understand graphics and compute pipeline
GPU programming with Metal, DirectX, Vulkan, CUDA, Direct Compute, OpenGL, or OpenCL
Programming and debugging skills and knowledge of C/C++
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Description
The Apple Silicon GPU Driver Engineer Prototyping Team is responsible for exploring and prototyping future GPU features. Our investigations span from the GPU hardware low level details all the way to the graphics/compute APIs.
Whether it is the latest Metal API, ray tracing, mesh shaders, rendering techniques, we keep exploring all aspects of the graphics and compute pipeline to build future GPU features.
You will collaborate with industry experts across Apple to design future generations of the Metal API, shading language, and Apple Silicon graphics processors. You will apply your knowledge of computer graphics to imagine and bring to life exciting new GPU features.
Education & Experience
BS or MS Degree or equivalent years of experience.
