Job description

Stratford School, part of Spring Education Group, is a leading independent WASC-accredited private school in California offering courses from preschool through 12th grade with a vision of creating a unique, multi-dimensional educational foundation for children. At Stratford School, we understand every child has his or her own interests and passions and contributes in their own way. Our proven program includes our STEAM-based curriculum that was recognized by the White House as a leader in early childhood STEAM education, and we are also the first California school to earn the Carnegie Science Seal of Excellence for STEM.
We are looking for an inspiring and dedicated Advanced High School Math Teacher to join our exciting and developing new high school. As a mathematics teacher, you will present the material preparing our students for higher education and beyond, in a way that will best enhance the student's conceptual understanding and build upon the middle years' foundational math learning. You will collaborate with other teachers to intentionally and systematically connect the mathematics curriculum with students' learning in subjects as diverse as science and social studies. In this teaching position, you use your passion for your subject to inspire and teach higher-level content, such as advanced Calculus and Linear Algebra, than what is typical of secondary students. Our mathematics teachers are passionate, engaging and innovative, and our students are eager to learn and grow.
If you are excited about this opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our student's lives, we encourage you to apply.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and teach courses expertly with the highest standards for each student that challenges students, supports diversity, and demonstrates a strong commitment to student success.
Convey enthusiasm for intellectual inquiry and model lifelong learning, designing instruction that emphasizes critical thinking and real-world problem solving
Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to form a community of smart, talented, and creative people who are passionate and willing to work in a professional and academic environment.
Teach higher-level content than grade standards in creative and interactive ways that display your passion for the subject and educate students at an internationally competitive level.
Keep parents informed about the learning of their children, and be proactive in communication with parents.
Support the well-being of all students
Demonstrate interest and ability to serve as an advisor to students, lead student activities, serve as a club advisor, and contribute beyond the classroom to support school programs and activities
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion of people and programs
Participate actively in other aspects of the student experience and school functioning: chaperoning trips and events, serving on committees, and developing new programs at the school
Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in a field of study in or related to Math
  • Minimum of two years of teaching and training experience at the high school and/or college level.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience teaching the craft of writing and research within the discipline
  • A willingness to try innovative teaching strategies and formats. Ability to implement differentiated learning/instruction as required.
  • Eagerness to build supportive relationships with students in and beyond the classroom
  • A willingness to work actively and collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum development and alignment
  • A commitment to continuous professional growth and an enthusiasm for lifelong learning
  • An ability to create and promote an inclusive learning environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
