General Definition of Work
Performs intermediate advanced human support work instructing and supervising students in the area of Mathematics , and
related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Principal.

Essential Functions
- Provides relevant learning experiences, using a variety of instructional strategies based on an understanding of curriculum, subject content, and individual learning needs of students.
- Develops lesson plans based on Virginia Standards of Learning and effective strategies, resources, and data to meet the needs of all students.
- Gathers, analyzes and uses data to measure acceptable, appropriate student academic progress, guides instructional content and delivery methods and provides timely feedback to students and parents.
- Manages student behavior with resources, routines, and procedures to provide respectful, positive, safe, student- centered learning in a variety of educational environments, including classroom, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.
- Maintains a commitment to professional ethics, communicates effectively, and takes responsibility for and participates in professional development activities that result in enhanced student learning.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
Thorough knowledge of subject(s) taught; thorough knowledge of elementary, secondary or special education principles, practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; thorough
knowledge of School Board Policies, regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students and parents.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and minimal experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
Special Requirements
Teaching license from the Commonwealth of Virginia with endorsement in appropriate area.
Valid driver's license.
