Animal Feed Procurement & Merchandising Manager

The Procurement Manager oversees daily feed ingredient purchasing, trading, and long-term departmental strategy, managing commodity price risks for CVFF feed mills and partners. They develop strategies for ingredient logistics, trading, sales, and commodities, including internal ERP programs and producer networks. The role includes preparing for a new feed mill and ensuring inventory sufficiency while collaborating with external partners. It's highly cross-functional, involving various support departments like feed milling, pork production, nutrition, finance, feed transportation, and IT. 1. This role is strictly located in the Harrisburg, PA area. Remote work is not available at this time. Relocation assistance is available.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Risk Management

• Manage all cash and futures commodity price risk, understand how to navigate markets in an inverse and carry
• Understand relative value of alternative ingredients and shadow pricing to major ingredients to guide purchasing decisions
• Utilize experience of commodity price discovery and extensive knowledge base of futures and basis pricing
• Develop merchandising strategies that are inventive and cost-effective with the Nutritionist and feed manufacturing, plug and play ingredients based on market opportunities
• Understand cross country commodity spreads on trucks and rail
• Trading shuttles and managing rail pipelines

Operational

• Regularly work with the milling team to execute inbound schedules via trucks, rail and trans load activities
• Create developmental plans for logistics and merchandising team (behavioral skills, technical skills, initiatives, etc.)
• Develop and review of KPIs and metrics for the Procurement & Merchandising team
• Champion the development and roll out of SAP ERP program
• Identify and develop grain origination strategy across multiple states
• Coordinate with Nutritionist on valuation of ingredient/by-product streams to determine relative ingredient value
• Own the relationships between CVFF and toll milling network
• Work with finance team to communicate market exposure

Team CVFF

• Attend and participate in leadership meetings and presentations
• Participate in Area organizational meetings (Supply Chain, Production, Accounting, and HR)
• Provide insight and guidance on commodity markets to corporate risk management organization
• Project management and coordination for ERP deployment between finance, credit, IT, AP, AR etc

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education

• 5+ years' experience in Feed Ingredient Procurement, Commodity Trading, Nutrition/Formulation, Risk Management, and/or Supply Chain activities and

Management (Required)

• BS Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Ag Business, or related degree (Preferred)
• Combination of Education and Experience will be considered

Salary Range: $100,000 to $150,000
