Seeking a professional career that involves helping both animals and people? Our full-time Animal Control Officers are responsible for enforcing state, county and city codes and ordinances governing Animal Control functions (e.g. field enforcement, licensing, animals at large, animal bite investigations, etc.). The job requires learning and implementing a wide range of policies, procedures and processes quickly and includes a significant amount of driving and physical field work. Officers handle animals of all temperaments and in all conditions including deceased.
Education and experience requirements include:
1) Minimum of a high school diploma or GED, plus one full year of work experience;
2) Computer, clerical, typing and math skills;
3) Emotional intelligence, work ethics and integrity and the ability to work compensated overnight on-call shifts;
4) Advanced and completed education in an applicable field of study such as, but not limited to Animal Science, Wildlife Science, Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Veterinary Technology is a plus;
5) English and Spanish proven bilingual skills (reading/writing/ understanding and speaking proficiency) are a plus and include additional compensation.
