Job Description
Texas Biomed is searching for an Animal Caretaker in the Research Support Group. The successful candidate must be able to provide daily care for research animals in the ABSL2 and ABSL3 facilities including feeding, watering, cleaning and health checks.
The Role
Provides all aspects of primate husbandry including non-human primate environmental enrichment
Collects and enters animal data into database
Applies tattoos, dye, or other identification method to various species
Collects and/or delivers laboratory samples for analysis
Maintains storeroom/supplies
Observes, documents and reports animal health, behavior, and interactions both normal and abnormal
Restrains animals using proper techniques for the species
Working in the ABSL2 and ABSL3 requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment for prolonged period of time
Our Ideal Candidate
· High school diploma or GED required · Animal experience and/or bachelors degree in related field preferred.
· AALAS Certification at the ALAT level preferred.
· Must have valid driver’s license and meet Texas Biomed driving standards.
· Available to work Monday-Friday, 7am to 4pm with rotating schedule covering some weekends and holidays
