Job Title: Kennel Attendant

Job Type: Part-time Hours: 30 hours/week

Pay rate: Hourly Dependent on qualifications. Vacation, personal, and sick time.

Reports to: Executive Director

Job Summary:

-Provide care for shelter animals.

-Treat animals with kindness and respect.

-Maintain a clean sanitary environment for animals.

-Socialize animals to make them more adoptable.

Weekends and Holidays are required.

Specific job duties:

• Clean and maintain kennels and animal living areas daily.

• Clean other shelter areas. Sweep, mop, clean windows and trash.

• Clean and maintain shelter equipment: Carriers, leashes, brushes etc.

• Wash food and water bowls and put them away in an orderly fashion.

• Provide each animal with food and water following proper protocol.

• Help with check-in of new animals.

• Follow proper safety measures when using chemicals and clean up supplies.

• Assist other employees, clients and volunteers in a cheerful and respectful manner as a representative of the Humane Society.

• Help with dishes and washing, drying and folding laundry.

• Help maintain, clean and organize all storage areas.

• Inform animal care specialists of any health issues of animals.

• Responsible for all duties assigned by the Executive Director and Management.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Should enjoy working with dogs and cats.

• Able to read, write and understand oral and written instructions.

• Able to humanely handle animals under various circumstances.

• Able to work together with other employees both front of the house and back of the house.

• Able to stand for long periods of time.

• Able to lift and carry 40lb bags and boxes.

• Able to bend and squat regularly

• Able to handle large animals.

• Must be punctual, reliable and responsible.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
