Animal Care Technician – SUMMER ROLE

Are you someone who is seeking a summer job? Do you excel with science, have a love for animals, and enjoy hands on work? If so, we want to hear from you!

Taconic is seeking Animal Care Technicians to join our team at our Cambridge City, IN site for the Summer 2023 season.

• The pay: $20 per hour
• The schedule: Monday – Friday
• Hours- Shift times as early as 5 AM, no later than 7:30 AM.

What you will learn and do in training as an Animal Care Technician:

• The basics of animal husbandry: How to provide water and food and clean cages
• How to hold a mouse and/or rat
• How to gown up in the uniform provided and why it is important
• How to understand and read an SOP
• How to document work and use Taconic systems
• About health statuses and how to maintain them

You may be a fit for this position if you:

• Grew up on a farm or around animals
• Are someone who pays attention to details and likes to stay organized
• Have an interest in science!
• Enjoy hands on work and being on your feet
• Are working towards a degree in biology, environmental science, or others!
• Are someone who likes to, and wants to, learn!

Requirements:

• Have a High School Diploma, GED, or related life experience
• Regular physical exertion required including: Climbing, crouching, crawling and lifting up to 50 pounds
• Minimum age for employment is 18 years old
