1. Prepares anesthesia equipment/machine for safe patient use during an anesthetic.
2. Sets up specialty equipment and supports the anesthesia provider during insertion of Arterial catheter lines and internal catheters, not limited to CVP and blood warmer.
3. Cleans and sterilizes reusable anesthesia equipment between uses while maintaining adequate numbers of available equipment to administer anesthetics.
4. Coordinates and checks the anesthesia machines quarterly for effective functioning of alarms, defects in gas hoses and electrical cords, cleanliness and organization of content, and preventative service documentation.
5. Performs monthly checks of the anesthesia carts for drug expirations.
6. Performs annually disassembling, cleaning and reorganization of anesthesia carts.
7. Coordinates equipment and product evaluations.
8. Maintains and stocks anesthesia carts/room and equipment, including monitors, ventilators and lab sampling devices.
9. Communicates with and assists Anesthesiologists, CRNA and Managers.
10. Assists in positioning and supporting patients for anesthesia procedures, such as spinal epidural, etc.
11. Orders and stocks all nonscheduled drugs from Pharmacy.
12. Answers unit call lights and responds to patient needs accordingly or communicates patient needs to appropriate member of healthcare team.
13. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
Education
• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
• Graduation from an Anesthesia Technician training program preferred
Experience
• 6 months of Anesthesia Technician or similar experience OR graduation from an Anesthesia Technician training program required
• Familiarity with anesthesia equipment/supplies, various modalities, treatments and medications required
Licenses and Certifications
• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Certified Anesthesia Technician or Anesthesia Technologist preferred
